Should health communication regarding COVID‐19 emphasize self‐ or other‐focused impacts of mitigation behaviors? Insights from two message matching studies

چکیده
Mask-wearing, social distancing, and vaccination remain effective ways to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Yet, many hesitate enact some or all these preventive behaviors. We created three persuasive messages—framed promote benefits either (1) oneself, (2) close-others, (3) distant-others—to determine whether effectiveness messages varied based on personality differences (specifically independent/interdependent self-construal chronic construal level). In two online experiments (N = 862), we measured individual showed participants one messages. Consistent interactions between interdependent message conditions that those high in responded most positively self-focused promoting mask-wearing, COVID-19 vaccination. Those low negatively Although no interaction effect was observed for independent self-construal, inconsistent evidence emerged level, other-focused performed better equally well may thus be promising future public health communication efforts.

Background While responsible innovation in health (RIH) suggests that health innovations could be purposefully designed to better support health systems, little is known about the system-level challenges that it should address. The goal of this paper is thus to document what is known about health systems’ demand for innovations. Methods We searched 8 databases to perfo...

Lehoux et al provide a timely and relevant turn on the broad and ongoing discussion around the introduction of health technology and innovation. More specifically, the authors suggest a demand-driven approach to health innovation that starts from identifying challenges and demands at the health system level. In this commentary, I review a number of underlying implications of their study in rela...
متن کاملInnovation, Demand, and Responsibility: Some Fundamental Questions About Health Systems; Comment on “What Health System Challenges Should Responsible Innovation in Health Address? Insights From an International Scoping Review”
In this commentary on the exercise of Lehoux et al (this volume) I argue that in discussions on the current challenges of health systems, a better diagnosis of the health system is required. The cause of responsible innovation in health (RIH) requires a better understanding of the dynamics of health systems, in particular how innovation, demand, and responsibility are m...
متن کاملModeling Students Self-Studies Behaviors
In this work we propose a decision-theoretic approach to Intelligent Tutoring Systems (ITSs) that seeks to alleviate the need for extensive development and hand-tuning in the design of such systems. Given a set of available learning materials, our approach enables the ITS to track the students’ difficulties and provide the right material at the right time. We model the learning process as a Par...
